What is PTSD?

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is not a mental disorder but a normal reaction to adverse circumstances that can occur after you have been through a traumatic event such as:

  • Combat or war exposure 
  • Child sexual or physical abuse
  • Terrorist attacks
  • Sexual or physical assault 
  • Serious accidents 
  • Natural disasters, such as a fire, tornado, hurricane, flood or earthquake

Symptoms of PTSD

  • Nightmares
  • Hyper-Viligence
  • Anxiety
  • Reliving the Event
  • Avoidance
  • Flashbacks
  • Difficulty Concentrating
  • Outbursts of Anger
  • Feeling Detached from events/people
  • Inability to Remember parts of trauma
